Balneare

ATAL

Balneare, the site specific installation by Assume There’s a Landscape, reflects on the artificial character of the beach environment, defined by the needs of mass tourism.

A photo of the real sand from San Terenzo beach is printed on a PVC surface and laid out on a triangular terrace of San Terenzo castle, the venue of the exhibition.

The sand printed on plastic is a simulacrum of the real beach that can be seen from the terrace, but it is no more man-made than it.
